Promoting Điện Biên tourism through digital platforms

ĐBP - Alongside the 2025 Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival and the 8th Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival of the Ethnic Groups of Điện Biên province, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has organized a press trip to connect social media influencers with key tourist destinations in the province.

Through the power of digital platforms, real moments and vivid footage not only highlight the beauty of the Northwest’s mountains but also convey the vibrant spirit and cultural diversity of this heroic land. The creative perspectives of tiktokers have made Điện Biên’s image more accessible, vibrant, and alluring, inspiring many to explore the region.

The press trip involved more than 20 participants, including travel bloggers, tiktokers, youtubers, journalists, and their teams. According to the program developed by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the group immersed themselves in the White Thai culture in Nà Sự, conquered A Pa Chải - the westernmost border point of Vietnam, and experienced the traditional culture of the Hà Nhì ethnic minority group.

The group also visited Cổng Trời (known as Heaven Gate) in Sa Lông, Mường Chà district, to learn about the art of creating patterns on traditional Mông attire, explored Tủa Chùa, enjoyed the Đà River’s landscape, and tasted local delicacies at Pa Phông Bridge, Huổi Só commune. Additionally, they visited Tả Sìn Thàng to learn about the delicate craftsmanship of Hoa ethnic shoes, recorded footage at the Tả Phìn stone plateau, and breathed in the fresh air of Trung Thu’s pine forest.

Back in Điện Biên Phủ city, the group met the finalists of the 2025 Ban Flower Beauty Contest and attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Ban Flower Festival and the 8th Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival.

During their time in the city, they engaged in the highland cultural space, met with artisans, and captured stories of local culture. They also enthusiastically joined the street parade and witnessed the spectacular U Va legend show. The team braved long distances to visit the ancient ban forest of Nặm Cứm in Ngối Cáy, Mường Ảng district, twice.

Phạm Văn Thăng, Head of the Tourism Division at the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated: “The promotion of tourism in Điện Biên, particularly for the 2025 festival and event, is a crucial task. We have organized this press trip inviting influential figures such as KOLs, youtubers, and tiktokers to experience and promote the tourist destinations, festivals, and activities of the 2025 Ban Flower Festival on digital platforms to reach a large audience.”

One of the participants, travel blogger Bùi Ngọc Công from Quảng Nam province, owner of Blog Của Rọt, has 207k followers on TikTok with 6.3 million likes. Although this was his second visit to Điện Biên, the trip left a lasting impression on him. Especially when he visited the ancient ban forest in Nặm Cứm, Mường Ảng. On his personal Facebook blog, he shared, “I never believed in fairy tale forests until I arrived at Nặm Cứm. Here, there are about 1,200 ancient ban trees, and I was amazed to witness the giant trunks. The sight of the blooming white flowers was like a fairy tale come to life.” His post quickly received thousands of likes and shares, helping spread the beauty of Điện Biên.

Blog Của Rọt also produced a series of videos on TikTok, capturing his experiences in Điện Biên, especially the lively festival atmosphere. Công remarked: “This year, my second trip to Điện Biên was extremely exciting. Unlike my previous visit, this time I got to participate in more activities during the Ban Flower Festival. I was especially impressed by the warmth of the people in Điện Biên. Joining the street parade, waving at the crowds, I felt so happy and connected with everyone.”

Tiktoker Nguyễn Nam Khánh, a local from Điện Biên and the creator of the channel Điện Biên Lang Thang, proudly shared his experiences. “This trip gave me a chance to promote Điện Biên’s unique features to a wider audience. My visits to A Pa Chải, Tủa Chùa, and the ancient ban forest were unforgettable. Standing at the tri-border monument at A Pa Chải, I felt an overwhelming sense of national pride,” said Khánh. “I think the press trip is an effective way to promote Điện Biên tourism. By sharing real experiences on digital platforms, we make Điện Biên more accessible and engaging for tourists. I hope this will continue annually to help attract tourists and promote sustainable development while preserving the rich cultural values of the region.”
